There are two elements to our ethos – how we operate as a club and how we develop elite skiers. Both are interdependent and we really believe a well run club will race well on the hill.
We grow racers – the step into elite sports is often a difficult step for both children and parents. Going from being the fastest child in a ski school race, to the youngest slowest child in a British alpine race can be daunting. We give all the support and care we can you young skiers, but the skiers family is also very important. So we embrace families. We welcome parents and siblings on all our camps and put together programmes for parents and siblings. We also hold a family camp at Wengen every February half term for your skiers to experience race training as part of their family holiday.
We are a club – the club is run on a not-for-profit basis and is run for the members by the members. Many of our team have been members of DHO and their Children ski with DHO Racing. We welcome parents of racers to take on roles on camps to help the children and offer training courses for parents to become qualifies races coaches and help our further.
We strive for excellence – we realise that excellence is a long term goal and in everything we do, we focus on where we can deliver excellence. Our coaches are selected because the offer far, far more than just skiing. We operate our organisation above the minimum standards expected.
We respect our legacy – DHO is nearly 100 years old, and DHO racing over 50 years old. We innovate respecting the traditions that have gone before. We value our heritage in Switzerland and adopt the elements of Swiss culture – harmony, precision, honesty and tolerance. We retain strong relationships in Wengen, returning there year after year, and are fortunate that many Swiss organisations want to partner with us.
