The DHO is one of the oldest alpine skiing clubs in the world – learn more about the club, it’s members and about the village in Switzerland where we are based – founded in Wengen in the Jungfrau Region of the Swiss Bernese Oberland in 1925. The club has its winter base there, and whilst most of its members come from the United Kingdom, it caters for people who have joined from all over the world.
All trainees must be a member of the DHO, either as part of a family membership or in their own right as a junior member
We provide a permanent base in Wengen for our members together with a representative in the village throughout the skiing season for club led skiing in the Jungfrau Region. Our centrally located club room is a convenient place to meet new friends and catch up with old ones.
The club organises a variety of alpine activities in Wengen for skiers of all ages including, during school holidays, “Coggins”, fun fast skiing for members children from 7 to 13 years old. and “Eagles” hard and fast group skiing with a top class ski teacher for 13 to 17 year olds. Many children have progressed from “Coggins” to Race Training competing at an international level.
Meet us in the DHO club room in the Eiger, right next to the Wengen railway station, come to one of our parties, held at different resort hotels throughout the season, or come for a guided day out as a visitor. Whilst helping Britain’s most talented young skiers, you will also be letting yourself in for a lot of fun and a lot of great skiing.
